About

Our mission

Make fresh, local and ultra-local products physically and economically accessible to as many people as possible. We also want to build links between local producers and customers in order to encourage sustainable and fair consumption.

The Ahuntsic-Cartierville Markets 2011

The Ahuntsic-Cartierville Markets (MAC) are the result of collective and citizen reflection. The organization believes in urban nourishing neighborhoods in which we can process and consume healthy, fresh and accessible food for everyone and at all times. The MAC is also a social and solidarity economy company which aims to encourage local and sustainable production.

The Agricultural Center 2019

Some urban producers decide to come together under the same roof with the aim of founding a solidarity cooperative. The Centrale Agricole's mission is to offer professionally useful goods and services to its member-users in the field of urban agricultural production, while bringing together actors and companies with an economic, cultural or social interest in the achievement of this mission.

The MAC member of Centrale Agricole 201

In addition to the rapprochement of their values and their missions, the MAC and the Centrale Agricole had a common vision at the heart of their projects; that of offering the residents of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district the food autonomy they deserve and of building together a nourishing neighborhood while respecting the diversity of its population.

In 2019, this common vision became the link that unites the two organizations and the MAC joined the Centrale Agricole to become one of its founding members.

The 2021 expansion

Two years after its birth, Centrale Agricole became the largest urban agriculture cooperative in the world. It brings together 17 permanent companies and 3 others in incubation courses while offering production spaces at competitive prices, training workshops and support at the agronomic, technological and business development levels.

“The Centrale Agricole Market”, a joint project 2022

Thanks to the generosity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the two organizations had the opportunity to achieve a common objective; offer locals a grocery store that provides them with fresh fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, honey, cider and other foods mainly produced in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district within the walls of the Centrale Agricole.
